Background Analysis

***Pending full implementation of the recently passed government structure charter amendment, and any resulting changes to the City’s process for authorizing the following staff activities, this RCA is being submitted to Council under the City’s prior authorization process.***

Tabulation of five (5) bids submitted for Event 2007 – UHT Grading and Demo Project. Accepting the low base bid, alternate 2 and alternate 3 of Veit and Company, Inc., in the amount of $5,992,992.35 to provide all materials, labor, equipment, and incidentals necessary for the UHT Grading and Demo Project, and authorizing a contract for the bid, all in accordance with City specifications.

Community Planning and Economic Development and the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board with assistance from Public Works is demolishing select structures and grading the site in advance of park and infrastructure improvements and future development. The project will include removal of bituminous and concrete pavement, demolition of select structures, shoreline grading and restoration, hauling, and disposal of contaminated materials.
