Background Analysis
The City released a Request for Proposals/Event #0000003078 for Engineering Design and Construction Services for the Southwest High Service Pump Station project on April 25, 2024 and received proposals from nine (9) firms. After a thorough internal evaluation process, Short Elliott Hendrickson Inc. ("SEH") was the selected consultant. Of the nine consultants, SEH had the most relevant experience delivering booster stations for Midwest water utilities with a public engagement focus.
The Southwest High Service Pump Station project will be funded entirely by the Water Enterprise fund. The intent of the project is to construct a new booster pump station in southwest Minneapolis to replace the existing station which has reached its end of life. The new station will be located southeast of Lake Hiawatha. The exact location will be determined during the design phase of the project in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of health and other relevant stakeholders.
